BRAHMA HERITAGE CAFÉ – JAYANAGAR

After all the hype about this place on insta reels, this place is felt warranted a visit. Especially since it has paneer Ghee roast and neer dosa on the menu...a combo I've been searching for a long time in an all vegetarian restaurant. Being in the area, decided to visit Brahma Heritage Café in Jayanagar. I must say I felt completely let down because the things I wanted. The neer dosa and paneer Ghee roast, appams and stew were all available only after 12 pm and I was there earlier than that. So I only had brunch of the regular fare Dosa...nothing that stood out taste wise. Served with red chutney and coconut chutney and sambar. Chutneys were awesome. Sambar okayish. Thatte idli...rubbery texture instead of the usual melt in the mouth fare I’ve had in many places in the city. Everything is served with a dollop of white butter but did nothing to enhance the taste TBH. Tender coconut ice cream was delicious! The pluses: Nice, airy atmosphere, well done up. Can leisurely sit here and watch the people and vehicles on the road. Good chutneys. While I opted for tender coconut ice cream, they do have unusual flavors like Prasadam laddoo ice cream, filter coffee ice cream and tamarind and curry leaves ice cream for the adventurous. The minuses: Whatever I had was average taste wise. Service was okay. Just opposite was a darshini kind of place that seemed jam packed and doing a roaring trade, while this place was quite empty. I kind of wonder how the after 12 menu would be like. Would I go again? Yes to try other items on their menu that I long for. Would I recommend to others yes if you are in the area and want to catch up one on one chat or by yourself. A rather peaceful place. Overall rating 3 / 5 though this rating is limited only to dosa, idli and ice cream. Looks like another visit is due after 12 pm. Ratings for Reviews: 1-No! No! No! 2-Just about average 3- Good.
