PLENTE – INDIRANAGAR
The insta reels rave reviews pulled me to this place, with the other attraction being vegetarian food and in my locality. It is a small place with both indoor and outdoor seating, cozy and neat.
This review is for two visits
FIRST VISIT
Orange Salad: I'm a big fan of salads so this really did it for me. Fresh with a good mix of lettuce, avocado, butter fried goat cheese balls for that crunch and sweet orange segments. I loved this.
Polenta cups – a starter: Very different starter for a change. Mushrooms, spinach cashew paste..Small bites so it's easy to finish
Mexican Rice: Total let down. More like takkali bath (tomato bath) and it did not smell great. I finished a bit at the restaurant and got some takeaway
Ended the lunch with a mango delight mock tail which was more like mango milkshake with a hint of coconut syrup. Was good and went well with the meal.
SECOND VISIT
Jalapeño corn cigars for starters: awesome...piping hot starter filled with cheese Jalapeño and corn served with salsa. Loved it.
Fig salad: Another hit. Salads seem to be their specialty. This one had caramelized figs, pistachios, sundried tomatoes with honey and lemon dressing.
Fatayer which is basically pizza, ...ordinary toppings but the base was unlike anything I've ever tasted..so soft fluffy melt in the mouth pizza. I enjoyed this.
Coconut flan pudding: Boring. Tasted bland. For me, the magic of any dish is that it should make you want to re order or recommend it to others. I wouldn't want to do both for this dessert.
The pluses: Neat, excellent service, great salads and starters, calm place.
The minuses: Not too spacious for huge groups. Some of my food groups have 30 to 40 people meeting at a time. Portion sizes do not justify the cost at all. It suits me because I went alone and I eat less but those with big appetites, it may not suffice.
Most desserts listed on the menu were unavailable. There is an unattractive display of desserts near the counter that dint look appealing. Being a dessert person it is a big minus for me.
They have a wide range of mock tails on offer.
For me the benchmark for any restaurant review is based on two questions
Would I go again: Yes. Lots more to try especially their Ravioli
Would I recommend to others: Yes if you want to catch up with a friend in the area or need quiet lunch by yourself.
It is heartening to see more and more restaurants coming up with vegetarian food of different cuisines from across the world and on and off local ingredients and flavors infused in it. Long may the trend continue.
