HOW TO CREATE A MONEY ALTAR

The year 2012 was a life changing year for me. It was the year that I found two best friends who’ve been by my side, helped me through everything and giving me many things that I wished for. Those two best friends are two books - The Secret and The Magic by Rhonda Bryne. Not only have they remained and continue to remain my best friends, but they are also responsible largely for their influence on me to go deeper and understand the law of attraction concepts.

From there followed I went about gathering any information on the law of attraction books, videos, articles, affirmations… I absorbed it all like a sponge and applied them to my life and continue to do so.

Over a period of time, I’ve practiced the law of attraction and attracted several things in my life. Apart from writing my blessings for the day, not one single day goes by where I am not doing something or the other related to the law of attraction. I’ve also seen a majority of people wanting to attract more money and prosperity into their lives. This article inspired by my own experiences with the law of attraction will show you how to do just that.

Money and its significance need no introduction. Only you, by your definition can decide just how much it means to you and how much you want to attract it in your life. One of the ways attract more of it in your life and improve your relationship with money is to create a money altar.

So what exactly is a money altar? How to create it? How can I use it?

Here’s what you need to do to create and use your money altar for attracting prosperity and abundance.

Step 1 - START WITH THE BELIEF MODE

Man is made by beliefs – as he believes, so he is.

“Beliefs are like commanders of the brain. When we congruently believe something is true, it is like delivering a command to our brain as to how to represent what is occurring.” – Tony Robbins.

The role that beliefs play in the whole law of attraction process is quite underplayed. In truth, they can change your world for better or worse depending on what you believe. If you are constantly in the “I am lacking__(money, time, a good companion you fill in the blank) so it will be. Always.

The first step is to train your brain to change your mind into believing that you deserve prosperity, that money will appear in many forms that money is your best friend. Without the abundance mindset, the next steps listed are of no use unless this step is first taken. You need to truly believe from your heart that you deserve the best.

There are tons of money affirmations all over the internet. Examples of these affirmations are

“Money flows into my life freely and easily.”

“I now live, feel and expect an abundance of money.”

Every day in every way my wealth is increasing”

Download images of those affirmations. Listen to videos on money affirmations. Write them down. Look at pictures with pots of money, money tree, money magnet etc. Tell yourself you deserve to have the money you wish. There are no limits to how much or how often this needs to be done. Do this every day as often. Repeat, repeat, repeat. It all boils down to conviction and not mere utterances.

“Believe in what you want so much that it has no choice but to materialize.”

STEP 2 – CHOOSE A SPACE

The dictionary defines an altar as “A table or flat-topped block used as the focus for a religious ritual, especially for making sacrifices or offerings to a deity.” But here we are using an altar or a sacred space exclusively for attracting money. One need not have a huge space. A corner of a room or cupboard, a table or even a big box in a corner will do. One important rule that needs to be followed is that the space you choose has to be safe and accessed by you and only you. We don’t want energies getting mixed up. My money space is just a drawer exclusively for it. Nobody even comes close to it and only I have access to it.

WHAT THE SPACE SHOULD BE

1. Exclusive for money: Yep, money and other positive things related to it. Not any space where one randomly dumps pills or bills or anything else.

2. Clean: Keep it free of clutter. This is an ongoing practice for your space and not just for one time. This is to clear the way symbolically for attracting abundance.

3. A money box/bag/ wallet : To keep the money in. I use a box. Whatever you use, remember it has to be well sized for the notes to fit in smoothly and not crammed in or folded.

3. Filled with positive things: All of them related to money – money images, gods or goddesses that you hold dear, any stones, pendants, idols that you connect with and believe will bring you luck. Books on financial prosperity (ones that you have read and believe in). Add to the list.

4. A special scent: Identify any scent that makes you feel great. Of course it has to be one that can be added to the space. For example I do love the smell of baked bread but I cannot add it to the space for it to last:). I use camphor. This is done for two reasons : every time you access the space, it should fill you with good vibes and anytime you catch of the whiff of the scent elsewhere, it should remind you of money and abundance.

Start with the basics, clean space, a money box or bag and then slowly add things that make you feel good. Ask yourself what you want to see as soon as you access the money space. It should fill you with positivity. Use colors that make you feel good. I use green because for me it’s a color of renewal and growth and we want our money to grow don’t we?:)

WHAT THE SPACE SHOULD NOT BE

1. A dumping area for anything handy. For some there’s a tendency to just open the drawer or go to a space and just dump say a bill or a letter or a bag if it’s a table top with the “intention of sorting it out or putting it away elsewhere for later. This space you created is NOT for any of those however hurried you are at that time. Think of what all it represents – growth, abundance, positivity, and give it the respect it deserves.

2. Anything that indicates lack: Some examples would be dirty handkerchiefs or letters of rejection, bills, returned checks. Do be very careful about these things.

STEP 3 - HOW TO USE THE ALTAR

1. Spend few minutes accessing the space every day. See all things in it that fill you with positivity. Visualize yourself having money. Imagine what you would do with the money. This acts as a trailer for the positive things to come.

2. Be consistent in accessing the space. Don’t give up if you don’t see anything immediately or if you get a small amount don’t go around with the feeling “is that all?.” There has to be room only for vibrant thoughts and feelings here.

3. Say your affirmations aloud every time you access your money space.

4. Smell the money. Yep, the actual notes. Become friends with it. Speak to it and request for it to bring more into your life. I’ve already mentioned above giving it a special scent for different reasons. You need not spray the money with scent. Just keep the space/box/bag smelling great with a scent you love.

5. Give thanks. This is crucial. Say thank you for all the money you have been given, money you have currently, and will continue to receive for the rest of your life whenever you access your space and anytime you can. How you frame your “thank you’s” are important. Use only positive words and avoid sentences like “Thank you for “not” sending me any bills.” Change it to thank you always for the abundance of money to pay for everything.

6. As and when you feel like it, add anything that makes you feel good that has a long shelf life. Try not to make it too crowded though.

My money altar is a drawer in my closet. It has a money box, a wallet, the books The Secret and The Magic, pictures of my favorite god, a packet of camphor (for me this smells heavenly), a unicorn on a key chain (because I like all things magical), a jade stone that always makes me feel good and a Buddha pendant. I plan to keep adding anything I feel brings me luck.

THE BENEFITS

Once you’ve finished creating your money space, watch for expected and unexpected ways you’ll receive money - discounts, credits to account, renewal of contracts, ideas that bring you more money savings…anything small or big related to money. Say thank you every time it happens. Do not obsess over the space or the money. Rather think of it as a comfort zone to go to. I often open my drawer and smell money and say several thanks with heartfelt gratitude whether I receive money at the time or not. It’s my “go to” place to just feel good. Everything else that follows from it is an added bonus:)
Enjoy creating your money altar and importantly,

“Have faith in the magic and miracles of life. For only those that do get to experience them” – Hal Elrod.

PARATHA PLAZA, INDIRANAGAR

Recently a friend of mine sent me pictures of some mouth watering homemade aloo parathas and I found myself craving to try them too. So for this month’s review I decided to have parathas at Paratha Plaza. I heard a lot about this place and as I stay close by, in Indiranagar, I thought I’d give this place a try.

I have tasted parathas from different outlets but I have no idea what an “authentic” paratha tastes like so I wouldn’t know a good paratha from a bad paratha but what I had here, I loved it. I totally enjoyed the quirky names of the parathas…like your pleasure my pleasure and stop liking me (???!!;)

I visited this place with my friend and we met at 12.30 p.m. In half an hour’s time the place was full so it is best to be there a bit early. This place is fine for a quick bite not the kind to linger on and chat. It’s a small place but quite comfortable. The names on the menu got my friend and I laughing and that was a good start to a meal.

I had Laila Majnu – Gobhi + Aloo + Spices

Being a huge drooler for both gobhi and aloo, I enjoyed hungrily tucking into my favorite combination. Hot, fresh and visually appealing and very, very appetizing.

My friend had Forget me not – Paneer + Gobhi + Carrot + Onion + Capsicum

Taste wise, we couldn’t find much difference between the Laila Majnu and the Forget me not except for the names:)

And we both shared – Karram Kurram - Papad + Onion + Spices

I expected this to be crispy but honestly all three tasted almost the same. The plus side was that all three were delicious. I liked that it was non greasy, filling but not in the heavy way that some meals are.

All parathas are accompanied with pickle, curd and awesome mint chutney. While this in itself is enough for a meal, they do have curries too and we ordered paneer burji. My friend and I totally loved it. The curry portion was quite a lot and we had to get it packed to have for later. Prices are reasonable.

Service is prompt, but could do with a lot of improvement. While I appreciate staff not breathing down my neck and watching my every chew, service at this place is the other extreme. No smile, no friendly word, quite don’t carish. Luckily for them, the tasty food and clean ambience made up for it and no wonder that this place gets filled up fast.

Would I go again – Definitely. I want to try the other items on the menu, more of their curries and lassi.

Would I recommend it to others – Yes, worth going at least once when in the mood for wholesome parathas.

Rating – 4/5 – this is only for the food and the prices.

Ratings for reviews:

1 – No! No! No!
2- Just about average.
3 –Good. Can give it a try.
4- Great!!
5 – Yes! Yes! Yes! And I’ll tell all about it.
